Fall Hair Trends: ACCESSORIES

\"I like wearing a headband or a jeweled clip because it’s an easy way to update my everyday look without changing it too much.\"

Apply a volumizing gel to your damp hair (try Vavoom Sheer Size Volumizing Gel, $14, matrix.com), then use your fingers to tousle it as you blow-dry. Next, wrap sections varying in size from 1 inch to 2 inches around the outside of a 1 1⁄2-inch curling iron held vertically. Mist your finished waves with hairspray, then scrunch them. Place a sequined headband over your hair like a crown; secure it with bobby pins (check out Claire’s stores for headbands like Amanda’s).

Fall Hair Trends: POLISHED WAVES

“This look is so sophisticated. It makes me feel like a movie siren from the ’40s.\"

Apply a volumizing mousse to your damp hair (try Herbal Essences Body Envy Mousse, $4, at drugstores), then blow-dry it using a round brush. Next, use a 1 1⁄2-inch curling iron to curl 2-inch sections of hair by wrapping each section around the outside of the barrel. To keep the look polished, wrap every section in the same direction. Once your hair is curled, gently brush through the curls to blend them together. Finish your look by swiping on a classic red lipstick (try CoverGirlTruShine Lip Color in Valentine Shine, $6, at drugstores).

Fall Hair Trends: THE FAUX BOB

\"I like this style because it’s so different from the dressy looks I usually wear. And it’s fun to try out shorter hair without actually having to cut it.\"

For this look, your hair needs to be shoulder-length or longer with layers (the shorter layers create the bob). Separate your dry hair from temple to temple, then clip the top half out of the way. Roll the bottom half of your hair up and under and secure it at the nape of your neck with bobby pins. Release the top half of your hair so it covers the roll. Make a side part, then create waves by wrapping 2-inch sections around the outside of a 1 1⁄2-inch curling iron. Finish by misting your bob all over with hairspray.
