The Chris Brown assault against Rihanna may be old news, but her recent interview has stirred up the conversation once again.
What is one of the most sentimental parts of her emotional interview, is when Rihanna goes on to say that the reason she finally decides to leave Chris was to set an example that you shouldn't go back to an abusive relationship, even though she admits at first she did. "When I realized that my selfish decision for love could result in to some young girl getting killed, I couldn't be easy with that part. I couldn't be responsible for telling girls to go back."
What was also alarming is that it takes a girl eight to nine times to be abused before leaving their significant other. But what defines an abusive relationship? According to Teen Health, signs of an abusive relationship include if your significant other:
-harms you physically in any way, including slapping, pushing, grabbing, shaking, smacking, kicking, and punching
-tries to control different aspects of your life, such as how you dress, who you hang out with, and what you say
-frequently humiliates you or making you feel unworthy (for example, if a partner puts you down but tells you that he or she loves you)
-coerces or threatens to harm you, or self-harm, if you leave the relationship
-twists the truth to make you feel you are to blame for your partner's actions
-demands to know where you are at all times
-constantly becomes jealous or angry when you want to spend time with your friends
If any of these signs are in your relationship, talk to someone immediately and see how you can get help.
What are your thoughts on abusive relationships? Why do you think girls are so reluctant to leave them? How do you know the difference between a bad fight and abuse? Post your thoughts below.

I remember the first time going home after starting college. I couldn't wait. I missed my bed, my mom's cooking, my friends, family, and my dog!
Going home however, wasn't like going home after high school. It had been three whole months since I had seen everyone. While I was still making friends at college, adjusting to a roommate, a new city, and a completely new life, I was returning to what I thought would be exactly the same.
How wrong was I! Life hadn't stopped once after I left, and things had changed. My brother was taller, my friends and I had different takes on our college experiences, and I didn't fit in with everyone exactly the way I did before I left home.
My mom had slightly redecorated my room, and I could feel that I didn't live there anymore. At first it sounded like I was being really negative, but over time I realized that it was true and there was nothing wrong with it. I was at the start of building my own new, adult life. And there was nothing wrong with that! It was nice to see that I was doing different things while staying close to the people at home who mattered to me the most.
When I went home for the first time since leaving for college I didn't mesh as well with everyone as I did before, but over time it was simply an adjustment period. Now, every Thanksgiving and Christmas, I can't wait to go home and spend time with old friends and family. It gives me time to convince everyone to come visit me during the school year, so they can see what my new life at college is like!
Do you have any stories about going home for the first time since leaving for college? Post your stories below!

Yesterday Nintendo kicked off the launch of their new game Style Savvy with a huge fashion challenge at JCPenney! The Style Savvy "Fashion Fest" challenged mothers and daughters to put their shopping skills to the test by creating a unique look on a budget.
While the teams raced to the racks, we had some time to chat with one of the event's runway judges and fashion designer Charlotte Ronson about her mother daughter shopping experiences! Not only does Ronson have her I Heart Ronson line at JCPenney, it's also one of the 10,000 fashions available in Style Savvy's virtual boutique. Check out what she had to say below.
CosmoGirl: Did you get your fashion genes from your mother?
Charlotte Ronson: I think so. Being twins (with DJ sister Samantha Ronson) we were always dressed the same but she made sure we were able to find our own identity. I loved to wear pink but when I was in trouble she would make me wear blue! My mother never wore full outfits, she always stood out by mixing and matching. Her thing was always asking "Do you love it?" Whenever we would go shopping she would always ask my sister and I if we loved what we were trying on. I was always so indecisive so I'd go home without anything and my sister would go home with everything.
CG: Did your mom ever buy you something that was just hideous?
CR: Oh yes! We all got matching horrible ski jackets. They were a gross green color and overstuffed. We all got one so we could match. There was a lot of matching going on in my family back then.
CG: What is the best shopping tip your mom gave you?
CR: She was never about labels. It was always cooler to find something special and unique.
CG: What is one staple you think all girls should have hanging in their closet?
CR: I think it depends on the person. For me, I'm a more casual person so it's about a great coat and then that will dress up the rest of the outfit.

Miley Cyrus took away another award this year, but she may not want it. According to a recent AOL survey, 42 percent of teens between ages 9 to 15 voted her the worst celebrity influence of 2009. Kanye and Britney followed behind in the top three spots.
Yet at the same time, the survey showed lots of love for Miley! The same poll put her in fourth for favorite female artist. So do we love her or hate her? True, she did pole dance at the Teen Choice Awards, in addition to her relationship with Justin Gaston, who was just a tad bit older than her, but she also brings us hits like "Party in the USA!" Sigh...we are torn when it comes to Miley.
What do you think about Miley? She did deserve to get the award for worst celebrity influence?

Have you ever heard of the term "turkey drop?" It's when a college freshman breaks up with their high school boyfriend on the first holiday vacation home, usually Thanksgiving.
This can be extremely difficult. You probably still love the person you spent those four years of high school with however, now that you're in college, you want to explore and get to know new people. College is the time you grow up and figure out who you really are, including who you'd like to date.
Even if you and your boyfriend made a solemn vow to each other before you left for college that nothing would change between you two let's face it, change is inevitable.
A friend of mine worked through his entire first year of college to stay with his high school girlfriend. It delayed the pain they both felt when they finally did split, because eventually the long distance didn't work. They were both doing different things with their life and because of that, the relationship had changed.
You definitely aren't alone if you're thinking about how your once perfect relationship is hitting a few bumps now that you are at college. When this happens, it's important to think about the decision you're going to make. Will you be happier if you are single your freshmen year? Or will you spend every night crying on the phone telling him how much you miss him? The relationships you created in high school are strong, genuine, and if you choose can last a long time, even if it isn't in the same context it once was.
Your breakup may not be easy, and telling your hometown boyfriend that you want a break or are dating someone else may break your heart as much his. Remind yourself that you made this decision for a reason and if you're not 100 percent in a relationship, being honest with what you want is the best thing you can do for both of you.
Are you at school and thinking about breaking it off with your boyfriend? How would you handle the situation?
