Glee Coming to NYC for a Carol-oke Contest

November 20, 2009 at 11:19AM by Colleen Moody |

Mark Salling from <i>Glee</i>

If you love Glee as much as we do, you'll want to get to New York City on Dec. 3, so you can hang out with Mark Salling, Cory Monteith, and Amber Riley from the cast.

The cast will be in NYC's Bryant Park to get everyone in the holiday spirit with Marshalls and T.J. Maxx's "Carol-oke" contest! These three will be teaching you how to get involved in the contest, which will help raise money for the Toys for Tots program this holiday season.

If you can't make it to NYC, you can still get involved! All you have to do is go to Marshalls and T.J. Maxx's holiday YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/jointhecarolers, watch one of the two unique carols, then upload a video of you singing one of them! For each video $1 will be donated toward Toys for Tots, to purchase gifts for a child in need. If that's not enough incentive, by uploading a video you are also eligible to win a $5,000 shopping spree. Tis the season to do something charitable!

How do you help others in need during the holidays?

Colleen

Glow Like Ashley Greene with Kumaara

November 19, 2009 at 12:21PM by Colleen Moody |

Ashley Greene

She may play a dead vampire in New Moon, but when she isn't trying to bite someone, Ashley Greene's skin is glowing. Her secret is Kumaara Luminescent Primer.

This primer already has SPF in it, not to mention tons of those berries, like organic bearberry that we know improves skin instantly.

I also tried Kumaara's Radiant Finish Concealer, which helped cover up my dark circles from a bad night's sleep. I looked wide awake, even if I wasn't feeling it!

What products do you use to keep your skin glowing?

Ultimate Break Up Signals

November 18, 2009 at 5:33PM by Divya Bahl |

Broken Heart Cookie

Does something feel different in your relationship and you're not quite sure what it is? If you feel like you and your boyfriend aren't as happy as you once were, it may mean a split is looming. Here are some warning signs to help you prepare for the storm, so that you can work it out or move on.

He gets into fights with you that are pointless. If your boyfriend is fighting with you about things he wouldn't have fought with you before, or bringing up things of the past and acting suddenly snappy it may mean he's thinking of ending things.

He becomes overly critical towards you. This is unhealthy, so if you feel like your boyfriend has been putting you down when he once used to dote on you; it's probably because his feelings for you have changed.

He stops communicating with you. This is a telltale sign things are drifting. If his texts, calls, and emails are less frequent as before and unresponsive, you know things have changed and you two should talk.

Really, you know when you and your boyfriend aren't connecting. While it could be a small phase, be smart when you see these signs and have a talk with him. You should be with someone who respects and admires you, not someone you are constantly arguing, fighting, or ignoring. If things do end, know that you should be with someone who wants to be with you, and if that isn't him, there is someone right around the corner to take his spot!

What are some warning signs your ex-boyfriends gave you? How did you deal with it?

Dating in Secret: Good Idea or Not?

November 13, 2009 at 10:02AM by Colleen Moody |

Telling Secrets

With the coming of New Moon, we've been seeing lots of headlines of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart with the looming question, are they or aren't they?

We still don't know if Rob and Kristen are dating, but what about when it comes to relationships that aren't in the spotlight? If you are a public figure, keeping your relationship secret is understandable, but when you are dating someone who wants to keep it a secret from your friends, is he protecting you or does he have something to hide?

If you've recently started seeing someone who doesn't want to tell his friends about you or your friends about him, think about the situation from an outsider's view. Is it because he knows your friends or parents won't approve of him, or is it possibly because he has been flirting with other girls and doesn't want you, or them to find out?

Whatever the case may be, it's important to approach him about it if it's bothering you. It's natural to keep things quiet at first to see if you both are interested in making the relationship work, but how long is too long to keep things hush hush? It's a fine line between testing the waters and hiding the truth.

Have you dated someone before that you kept a secret from your friends? If so, why? Tell us in the comments below!

xoxo,

Colleen

Foods to Help You Study

November 12, 2009 at 10:48AM by Divya Bahl |

Orange Slice

They say eating a good breakfast helps students perform better in school. But are there really foods out there that help you concentrate better?

Late nights studying for midterms and finals can take a toll on your body. Be sure to not skip meals, and take the time to have lunch and dinner breaks so you don't go overboard on the junk food. Below are my go-to foods when I need more energy and concentration while studying for a big test.

-Oranges: The citrus in oranges help you stay awake. Not only are they good (and tasty) for you, but they are better than drinking coffee or soda to keep awake.

-Dark Chocolate: With moderation, a few pieces of dark chocolate boosts your mood and brain function.

-Tea: Tea is another healthy alternative to coffee, especially if you add skim milk and honey. It has caffeine and just one cup may perk you up!

-Almonds: Almonds won't cause a miracle overnight, but if you eat them daily, they are known to improve brain function. My grandma makes me eat 10 everyday!

If you have to have the occasional junk food as a treat for studying, let yourself enjoy one once in awhile. Just be careful not to indulge too much, as most junk foods will make you sluggish and tired.

What are your favorite foods to munch on while studying?

Xoxo,

Divya
