Everyone knows that New York City is full of people—but what you don’t realize until you get here is that most of these people are coupled off. At least, that’s what it feels like to me, the singlest of single girls out there right now.

I’m not saying I’m not having a great time on my own, or that I’m ready to just jump into the arms of the next guy that comes along, but I’d love to know how all these people do it? How are they all finding someone?

This single fish in a couple’s pond feeling doesn’t just apply to my time in New York. It extends back to my life in Texas, where I normally live. Both of my roommates have serious boyfriends. All my best friends from high school are in long-term relationships. And I haven’t had a date in years.

It’s not that I hate being single. I feel a lot like how Jill described in her blog earlier this year. I’d rather be single than dating someone just for the sake of dating. But sometimes it would be nice to be getting ready for a date on Friday night along with my roommates or to gush about my Mr. Right along with my high school friends.
