American Teen: Big Decisions...College!

At school in Warsaw, I was always able to make good grades. I felt there was no concept they were teaching that I couldn't grasp. This was great because it relieved almost all academic pressure and college was a go for me. What I didn't expect was the negative that came from this talent.

I spent only a few months trying to decide where I wanted to go to school. I found the perfect university early on and even got accepted. There were some financial issues, but nothing I couldn't get through. I packed all my stuff and moved several states away and was ready for the time of my life.

I assumed college would be just as simple as high school. Its bad to make assumptions. College is work you pay to go to. It requires more dedication and hard work than anything else I could have experienced earlier in life. Now that I see that for myself, my view of higher education has changed.

College isn't right for everyone. That is something I had never heard anyone say before I left. I went because it seemed to be the thing next in line to be done. I also went to make my parents proud, to assure them I was responsible and able to be on my own. I should have gone to college because I wanted a degree. Be careful when deciding what to do after high school, the next step is a big one.
