American Teen: Living the Dream

So, I am living in Los Angeles, California, for the summer. Being born and raised in Indiana, this is something that I never thought I would say; however, so far L.A. is everything I thought it would be. I have seen several celebrities, been to the beautiful beaches, been stuck in traffic for hours, and have seen star-struck individuals as well as crazed paparazzi on the beautiful streets of the city. I came into this summer, that I knew would be amazing, with one goal – enjoy the experience as much as possible without compromising the person that I am, which has not been too difficult so far. However, I have realized how easy it could be to become blinded by the fame and beauty of Hollywood and lose grasp of who you are.

Growing up in Indiana, the west coast and all that came with it was somewhat of a figment of our imaginations that only was real for the two hours that we saw it up on the big screen. However after being out here for a short while, it still seems as if we are living in a fantasy world and that at any minute we will wake up back in Indiana. Essentially, we are living in a glorious dream where we are seeing first hand all the famous people and beautiful sights which previously only existed in movies. It has been an incredible experience thus far and I can only imagine what the rest of the summer has in store; however, my goal of remaining true to myself remains the same.
