American Teen: Relationships

I have always considered myself a relationship kind of guy. Since I can remember, I have always been interested in having a girlfriend, whatever that meant back in fourth grade. However, since high school, there has been a paradigm shift for me and I have not been in a relationship since then. Hannah was the last girl that I officially dated. This has been comfortably strange for me, however; there is a voice inside my head that is constantly longing to find my lifelong soul mate. I guess you could say that I am a hopeless romantic. There have been a few prospects and many attractive and likable girls have come into the picture, but a second date never felt like the right thing to do. I guess I have a bit of a defense mechanism that has kicked itself into high gear and will not let me make myself vulnerable with someone unless I feel that she could be the right girl for me. Frankly, I have not felt that yet.

I guess being labeled the heartthrob of the movie is a bit ironic based on my dating life the past two years. I have never been extremely fond of the title because I do not feel that that is who I am, but it has been interesting to see people react to the title. Very intriguing. Even though I do not feel that I fully fulfill my title in the film, I am still waiting and hoping to find the girl that makes my heart throb.
