Taking Back Sunday at Live Earth

Who knew that not only are all these huge musicians totally talented, but that they truly care about the environment? Yup, it’s not about just talking the talk. These artist truly do make efforts in their every day lives to be more eco-conscious.

KT Tunstall dropped by the press tent and explained that she purchases carbon offsets to make up for the environmental damage from printing up her CDs. So she thanked her fans for the 6,000 trees out there in her name, because so many people bought her CDs!

When Akon popped in, he was asked if he would ever date anyone who wasn’t “green.” With a chuckle, he said he was open to dating anyone, but of course we’re sure he would prefer someone who was eco-friendly.

And then Taking Back Sunday came by. Who knew that they were so environmentally savvy that Fred even recently bought a car that runs entirely on veggie oil (which he joked he gets from Chinese restaurants- ha!). He also pays an extra few bucks a month so that the energy in his home is more efficient.

Impressed by all these grand efforts, I jumped up and asked what kind of things they do in their day-to-day lives that you CG!s could do too! Fred said that he bought a bike so that he rides the one mile to the grocery store instead of hopping in the car for such a short trip. They also said that they’ve made a habit of using sippie cups (how cute!) instead of water bottles so that they can re-use them.

Adam then added that part of what inspired them was a presentation they once caught with Al Gore. Having their entire team educated together put them all on the same page so that they could become more green as a band. Wow!

That’s it for now! I’ll be back with more from Dave Matthews Band! Fall Out Boy’s on stage right now rockin’ “This Ain’t a Scene.” Pete said, “Environmentalism is a lot like working out, you’re only going to do it if it’s convenient,” but noted that it shouldn’t be that way! You go, Pete! (And I know it sounds trite after all this, but boy does Pete look hot in his little vest today- heehee!)

Let me know what you guys think of Live Earth!

Can’t wait to hear from you!
