beachy hair, please!

Out of sheer boredom with my pin straight hair (and lack of air conditioning in my apartment), I decided to forego the blow-drying process this morning and instead opted to go for the scrunchy look.

First, I ran gel through my towel-dried hair, then I doused my head with L’Oreal Pumping Curls spray. After scrunching each and every last strand, I was set. I had that perfect summery, beachy look—finally!

I was so impressed with my styling techniques that I had to check out my new look as soon as I got to work. But when I looked in the mirror, I saw that my hair was back to its boring, straight self! What could have possibly happened in the 20-minute subway ride that completely killed my wavy locks? After an unsuccessful attempt to revive my non-existent curls with water, I gave up, throwing my hair into a messy ponytail.

I have been attempting the scrunchy look ever since I fell in love with Britney Spears’ wavy hair a few years ago (pre-head shave . . . during the I’m a Slave for You era.) I've seriously tried every curling mist and wave-enhancing spray on the market, from drugstore faves like Aussie to costly bottles of Frederic Fekkai and Oscar Blandi. Once, I even begged my hairdresser for a body perm, but she refused saying that my hair wouldn’t be able to undergo the chemicals from the perm since I dye my hair.

There has to be some amazing product out there than can transform my hair into wavy beach hair, right? Or maybe there’s some secret trick that I’m unaware of. If you have any advice please fill me in! Until then I’m doomed with hair boredom and frustration…
