Today is my birthday. So, in honor of that, I decided it would be fun to blog about birthdays and what they mean to me...

At this stage in my life, I don't get too excited about b-days. It's probably because I've already gone through so many of them, and I've realized they really ARE just another day of the year. But I know some people who get so excited about their own birthdays that they treat it like a national holiday. It's a little crazy if you ask me! One of my friends, for example, is obsessed with her birthday. She not only plans a celebration three months in advance, but last year she bought a new outfit, new makeup, and even new HAIR (yes, she got extensions) for her birthday party. She took the day before her birthday and the day OF her birthday off from work. Then, she wore a tiara to work on the day that she returned. I'd joke with her that she should have her own TV show called "My Super Sweet 23." Don't get me wrong, I think it's hilarious that someone would take a birthday to this extreme. But I usually don't like drawing attention to myself on my birthday. I mean, everyone has one, right?

See, as a kid, I was never used to getting all the attention on my birthday anyway. Since it's smack in the middle of the summer, everyone (besides my family and close friends) kind of forgot about it. When I was in elementary and junior high school, I felt left out because I never got to have all those cool things like cupcakes or balloons in class. If I was lucky, I have a cool teacher who would throw one big party on the last day of school for all the kids born in July or August. But it was never quite the same as celebrating on your ACTUAL birthday. How many of you summer babies out there can relate to that one?

This might be far-reaching, but is anyone else out there celebrating a birthday today? Or in the next few days? Well, happy birthday to you! One thing I always loved to do was check to see which celebs were born the same day as me. I never found anyone interesting...until today, that is!
