2024 Advertising Intern Blog: Week Three

Sometimes in life we have the opportunity to enjoy those miraculous weeks where everything goes perfectly; this week was one of them! My two top highlights of this week include an Olay team trip to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and a trip with the CosmoGirl interns to Washington D.C., where we met Madame Speaker Nancy Pelosi!

The Olay team enjoyed a beautiful day at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, where we were inspired by the beauty of nature. I enjoyed getting to know my teammates, and we welcomed another Olay intern, Clare (pictured here). I’m looking forward to working with and getting to know her, as we are the only two Olay interns!

This week was topped off with a trip to D.C. to meet Nancy Pelosi with the CosmoGirl interns. After reading Madame Speaker’s book, entitled Know Your Power: A Message to America’s Daughters, (to be released July 29th, 2008) we were well-prepared to discuss topics including America’s position in the United Nations, Tibetan liberation, female leadership in American politics, and poverty in America. As she discussed in her book, she keeps herself motivated by thinking of the 1 in 5 – that is, 1 in 5 American children live in poverty. I’m glad that she keeps this in mind as she leads the House every day.

I was also pleasantly surprised at her candidness and eagerness to answer all of our questions and sign all of our books! Her forward-looking visions gave me a positive hope for this world’s future, and I can’t omit the fact that she had an ample supply of Ghiradelli’s 60% Cacao Dark Chocolate on her table, which absolutely brightened my day. Just like her, my weakness is chocolate!
