read the book, see the movie

Ryan Gosling

So many books get made into movies. There are the Bridget Jones and Harry Potter books. Graphic novels like Sin City and classics like Pride and Prejudice. I don't know about you, but I love comparing the book and the movie versions. They are such totally different ways of telling the same stories. Most of the time I like the book version better, but sometimes the movie is WAY more exciting (like that kiss at dawn between Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen in Pride and Prejudice! I'm totally excited about the movie version of Alice Sebold's book, The Lovely Bones. It's about a 14-year-old girl who is murdered but is able to follow the lives of her family--and her killer--from her new home in Heaven. The book is both dark and beautiful and incredibly riveting (especially since the killer's still on the loose). The movie's going to star Ryan Gosling and Rachel Weisz as the girl's parents (not the actors I would have cast, but hey...). The film's not out until next year--plenty of time for me to read the book over and over again.

What's YOUR favorite movie-based-on-a-book? Or is there a book you think SHOULD be made into a movie?

xoxo
