cardigans on the rise

You heard it here first, cardigans are coming back—and in a big way! Lately I’ve been seeing them everywhere and I love it. Mentally, I’ve been fully prepared for spring for quite some time now, but last week I realized my wardrobe could use a little help. I ventured out this past weekend in search of a few new spring items to set the stage for my ‘look’ this season and I was delighted to find my favorite stores packed with bright colors and sweet, form-fitting styles. My best buy turned out to be a cardigan of all things — one style that I have always steered clear of because (no offense, mom!) they felt a little ‘old’ for me—the fit never seemed to be very flattering. But I found that this season, stores are selling tons of cardigans in fun colors and patterns that look fresh and modern! The ones I liked best had a snug fit and hit right at the waist. I bought a cute, bright orange one at J.Crew with flowers flowing down the middle. What I like best about it is how versatile it is—it’s great by itself or as a layering piece. I’ve already done two completely separate looks with mine! First, I wore it to dinner with friends on Saturday night, paired with heels and a black-mini. The very next day I threw it on over a long tank-top with jeans and flat boots to run errands around the city. For me, the key to great style is finding fun, hip pieces that can be easily dressed up or down and pairing them with all the classics.
