Back to Basics

DIY: Converse

I read somewhere that a woman should invest in certain pieces for her wardrobe that will remain classic, or wearable forever. This includes items like the LBD (little black dress), the trench coat, the crisp white collared shirt, denim jeans, and high heels.

In high school — despite my Abercrombie tee shirts, sweat pants and Gossip Girl wannabe uniform skirts — I added some of these 'classics' into my wardrobe, significantly improving my style. However, I somehow managed to get through all four years without ever buying a pair of Converse sneakers!

After years of bearing cold winters in UGG’s, wearing ballet flats in summer, and sporting boots (that looked like they were meant for horseback riding) all year round, I finally just bought some brand new Converse sneakers. I have to say, I absolutely LOVE them!

For the first time, I’m not eager to wear any of my old shoes, or even flip flops! Instead, I want to wear my new Converse everywhere! Still, I sometimes wonder how long I can wear them. Are they age appropriate? Is it weird to have the same shoes as a 10 year old? Nahhh! These shoes rock and are good for every age!

If you’ve never worn these sneakers, invest in some. They’ll never go out of style (that’s for sure), and according to my criteria for clothes that are forever wearable — they’re a keeper!

Do you have a pair of Converse? What color? What fashion pieces do you consider classic?

Xoxo,
Divya
