2024 NBA Intern Blog: Week One

Today was NBA Cares Day. After the night I had at the NBA draft, I knew I needed a break from working all day. I woke up this morning so tired and ready to jump back into bed, yet I knew little kids were counting on me to make gorgeous cards for them. NBA cares is a volunteer program the employees of the NBA do to help build a relationship with the people of the city. Half of us were in the Bronx painting schools, and the other half were in the New York office putting craft kits together, and making creative cards with special sayings in them. The real cool thing about the program is that there are certain players involved along with the commissioner of the NBA David Stern and Shaquille O’Neal’s mom who is head of Moms of Moms with the NBA. I was able to sit down with her and gain some advice about staying humble in the industry and always keeping family close. She was very lovely, and down to earth. This week was very exciting in all of the events I have been able to participate in and I could not have asked for a better internship.

I love CosmoGirl for giving me this opportunity to meet all these amazing people and engage in the workings of making this world a better place to live in. I’m extremely ecstatic to see what is in store for me next week. Maybe I will be assigned to bring Lebron James a towel to sign it for small children in Africa. (I’ll keep dreaming.)
