Spellbound

If you had asked me what "Twilight" was two weeks ago, I would've had no idea. I've always loved to read, and I'm a regular at my local bookshop, but somehow this series snuck past my radar.

After my fellow intern Ashley wrote a blog about "Twilight" and the cult-like following it's gained, I stopped by Barnes and Noble after work and snatched up a copy. I have to admit that I was more than skeptical, but all I knew was that it was a vampire love story…can you really blame me?

I've gotten to know and respect Ashley since our time at CosmoGirl and I trust her opinion – so I denied my knee jerk reaction to reject the book and gave it a chance.

Best. Choice. Ever.

I just started the series a few days ago, and I'm almost finished with "New Moon". I can't stop thinking about Edward and Bella even when I'm not reading, and I stay up through all hours of the night reading just a few more pages.

My book obsession is nothing new. My mom is a bookworm, and her love for reading instilled a similar passion in me. I've spent too many nights to count curled up under my quilt with a flashlight and my newest find.

It all started with "The Chronicles of Narnia", and my love for series grew to include "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" (can't wait for the second movie!), "Gossip Girl", "Harry Potter" and last but not least, "Twilight".

For me, these series didn't just pass the time…they fueled my love for reading and writing to the point that I decided to pursue a career in journalism. My ultimate dream is to eventually write my own fictional series that will spark imaginations, cross generation gaps, and leave you reading 'til the morning light.
