fiber is your friend!

Relax!

A relative of mine was just diagnosed with advanced colon cancer, and this definitely got me thinking about eating better. Eating more fiber is supposed to reduce your risk of certain cancers and heart disease, but the thought of getting more fiber into my diet sounded like torture. That's what I thought until I realized there are a lot of fiber-rich foods that actually taste good. Not only berries and fruits (I love bananas and mangoes), but also popcorn and oatmeal-raisin cookies and chili and falafel. I'm still not getting the recommended 25 grams of fiber every day, but I'm plugging away, one apple at a time!
