It may not be the Oscars or the Emmys, but there's just something about having all the stars of both movies and television an intimate setting around dinner tables that makes the Golden Globe Awards so fascinating to watch!

And as one of the big Awards season kick-off events, the Golden Globes often is an early indication of who will be up for the Oscars this year (the nominations will be announced on January 23). And this year seemed to be the year of the underdogs.

Did you guys catch the moment when "Ugly Betty" was announced as the Best Musical or Comedy Television Series winner over longtime hits "Desperate Housewives," "Entourage," "The Office," and "Weeds"?! Wow! You could genuinely sense the cast and crew's surprise leaping out of your TV screen! And how cute was it when the castmates united on stage and couldn't help but give each other hugs and jump up and down. (My favorite moment: When America Ferrara and Becki Newton who plays Amanda—who I just love— found each other on stage. Too cute! And how hot did that Eric Mabius who plays Daniel Meade look- whoa, baby!)

And if that wasn't enough, all of us here at CosmoGIRL! were so thrilled to see our current cover girl (on the February 2007 issue, on newsstands now) capture the Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy trophy! Woo hoo! Congrats, America! We always knew she was awesome, but just to see her up there giving her acceptance speech was so moving.

Between America's speech and Jennifer Hudson's win for best supporting actress in a movie musical or comedy for "Dreamgirls," newcomers seemed to steal the spotlight this year (and give the most touching speeches- I'm still tearing over both Jennifer and America's!).

What did you guys think of the Golden Globes? Were you totally shocked by any of the winners? And of course, I'm dying to know who you thought had the best dress on!
