late bloomer: starting to wear makeup...at 18!

I didn't begin wearing makeup until I came to college. It wasn't because my parents wouldn't let me, but because I hated the way it felt on my face. I had no idea why any girl would choose to spackle on foundation or wear clumpy mascara on their lashes. Can you believe it? Eighteen years old and I had maybe two eye shadows and one clear mascara to my name.

I totally give credit to my freshman-year roommates for making me more of the girlie girl I am today. For example, my side of the room was blue and green with ticket stubs on the wall and theirs was pink and purple with romance movie posters. While I woke up ten minutes before class, they had already been up for an hour doing their morning routine.

Now I can't leave the house without mascara and a bit of foundation. I love any eye shadow that has a bit of glimmer in it and have decided that neutral tones are best for me. And I'm getting used to wearing a tinted lip gloss as opposed to Chap Stick!

Even though my mom and dad still tell me, "You don't need makeup! You're naturally beautiful!" (Gotta love parents--they're always on your side!), I am happy that I began to experiment with products. It makes me feel more sophisticated and cool.

What about you girls out there—when did you start wearing makeup? Do you wear makeup on a daily basis? Do you go all out, or just apply some mascara and call it a day?
