miracle beauty products

Last week I ran out of the stuff that I typically use to style my hair, but when I went to the place where I usually go to buy it I found that they didn’t have it anymore. Now, who knows, they could have had some in the back or maybe they were ordering it to come in next week, but either way once I saw that it wasn’t on the shelf I decided that it was time for a change.

My dad (who gets annoyed when my mom buys a different brand of soap) can’t understand it, but I’m all for trying new products. So after I’d made my decision that it was time to spice things up I started wandering the aisles. Everything I saw brought a commercial or print ad to mind.

Would this styling gel really not make my hair feel sticky? Could this conditioner really make my hair as shiny as they said it would? After a couple of minutes thinking of all of the commercials I’d seen for the products around me I decided that I couldn’t trust any of them. So I went to find one of the sales people who seemed to know her stuff. We talked about my hair and then we found a new product that so far I really like.

Now, I get it. Ads are supposed to make a beauty product out to be the best thing for every single person whether they have straight or curly hair, dry or oily skin. But that means that when I’m in the store I have absolutely no idea what to buy because everything is supposed to work miracles on everyone! The only solution seems to be to rely on opinions of real people (as opposed to the people on TV).

So let’s hear it! Share with your fellow CG!s the beauty products that actually live up to the hype. Which miracle moisturizer/conditioner/teeth whitener actually worked some magic on you and which didn’t? Also, I’d love to know if you are into trying new products (like me) or if you’re loyal to one brand in particular (like my dad).
