Rise and Shine Lamp

So, after dealing with this "impossible to wake up in the morning" situation seemingly due to the fact that my bedroom is a dark cave, I finally gave in and tried one of these so called sun lamps (see photo of "rise and shine" light by verilux to the left). These lamps supposedly create the look and feel of a rising sun in your own bedroom and they also offer soothing sounds to sleep and wake to. So, after my boyfriend enthusiastically programmed the entire elaborate mechanism (new techy toy=boy glee), I fell asleep to the sounds of frogs and crickets and then awoke to a gradual brightening sun with the singing of birds. The first morning, I immediately just hit the whole darn thing, turning it off completely and turning over and falling back to sweet sleep. This was NOT a good idea since I did not hit "snooze" so it never went back on, thus making me VERY late. After a few more mornings of this routine, I decided that it was probably a good idea to set my traditional alarm clock as well. I have to say it is nice to wake up naturally just with the sensation of the lightening of my room. But, I still can not get out of bed! Next trick will be to put the lamp on the other side of the room. Or, if this fails, I think it's time to just realize that I go to bed WAY to late, and maybe I should just stop practicing guitar until 1am, and get to bed early!

Sweet Dreams,
Jess
