tacos and no trans fat!

Taco Bell Ranchero Chicken Soft Taco

When I did a story on trans fats for the May issue of CG!, I couldn't believe how many fast-food restaurants were still using trans-fatty oils, but I just found out that Taco Bell has just gone trans fat-free! Yay to that!

I also found out about "Fresco Style" which has been around for a couple years, but I bet most people don't know about it. You can get almost any item without the cheese and creamy sauces--and it's replaced with freshly made "Fiesta Salsa" (tomatoes, onions and cilantro). So the yummy ranchero chicken soft taco (pictured here) which usually has 14 grams of fat and 270 calories only has 4 grams of fat and 170 calories when it's made "Fresco Style." Yeah, the cheesy sauces are still delicious, but at least you have options! You can check here for a nutrition guide here.

So tell me, are you more concerned about trans fats?

xoxo,
Cheryl
