wake me up before you go go

So, I have this dilemma. I cannot for the life of me wake up on time in the morning. I have been this way for as long as I remember and it has made me into one of those "late" people. Well, actually, I am only late for morning appointments, otherwise—I am VERY punctual.

I keep blaming this on "new J" (AKA new great boyfriend) since he is all wired at night and keeps me up with his babble and guitar playing (oh, did I mention that he bought me a guitar for my birthday which I have decided he bought for me just so that he has an instrument that he can play in my house).

Anyway, I have come to realize (and, as my boss has often times reminded me) that I can't blame him since I have been this way FOREVER!

The strange part though is that when I am on vacation or when I stay at someone else's house I wake up fine. I jump out of bed ready to take on the day.

So, I have come to the conclusion that the cause of this HUGE problem is SUN LIGHT, or rather, lack there of. I sleep in a bedroom that has a window that faces an airshaft (very normal in NYC livin') so I get absolutely no light in my room. When I wake up in the morning, it might as well be 3am.

And, when I was growing up, I had the same problem since my room was in a basement. Also, my room after college in my east village apartment where I lived for 5 years was also an airshaft view. No wonder!

So, I am finally ready to find a solution. Maybe a sun lamp? Any suggestions?

And, don’t even think about mentioning that alarm clock that jumps off the dresser and runs around making shrieking noises until you find it...
