extreme weather skincare

Hand Cream

Being an East Coast girl (born and raised) I’ve gotten pretty used to certain patterns when it comes to my skin. Every year when winter makes its New York debut--complete with harsh winds and heaps of snow--my skin immediately gets really dry and I have to use more moisturizer. In the summer, though, I can ease up on the lotions a bit because the moisture of the air keeps my skin from getting too dry.

Two weeks ago, though, when I went on vacation to Palm Desert, California my typical summer skincare routine was completely thrown off by the heat. It was around 115 degrees almost every day I was there! Yeah, sure, the place has the word desert in its name, but I never imagined people could live in a place where I literally felt like my skin was going to dry up and shrivel in the sun.

My little sister was the one who was hit hardest by the heat. Despite all of the lotions and creams she tried, the skin on her face and arms got so dry that it started to hurt!

So I have to ask. . .if any of you CG!s live in or like to visit places with insanely hot (or maybe even ridiculously cold) temperatures how does your skin survive it? What products work best for you? I (and my sister) want to know your extreme weather skincare tips!
