You Guy Questions, Answered!

Thanks for all the questions. I’ve had more than I expected and I’m going to try to answer as many as I can (I may also answer some in the comments section going forward) but for this post I can only answer 1. This question was chosen because I think it speaks to a larger issue that some guys have. I hope to answer a few more this week.

Hi Thornton,
I read The Daily Kiss religiously and I know I will become a huge fan of yours. Anyways, I was wondering if you could give me some insight. This guy that I used to be friends with turned out to be a complete jerk when I told him I liked him. He had his friends text message me and say really mean things to me because he wanted me "taken care off." Then a couple months later he asks me out. I asked him a million questions to make sure it was legit. And then like after an hour I said yes, and then he told me it was a joke. So technically my questions are, a) Why does he hate me now? and b) What can I do to make him stop? Thanks for the help.

There are a lot of guys who like to mess with girls’ heads in order to make themselves feel better and to feel like they’re cool enough to do it. While a lot of guys get this out of their system in their teen years, a few will repeat this behavior well into adulthood. These guys are sometimes referred to as “misogynists” or more commonly, “jerks.” Unfortunately Monica, your guy sounds like a Grade A “Jerk” and I want to offer you an apology on behalf of all guys for his behavior.

That said, let me answer your questions;
a) It doesn’t matter why he feels anything. You’re much too good to care. Any guy who uses the phrase “taken care of” about a girl who is nothing but nice to him deserves, well, to be “taken care of.”
b) Ignore him. I can pretty much guarantee that all the wicked pleasure he is taking in teasing you comes from watching you get humiliated and upset. Don’t give him the satisfaction (or the time of day).
