mark your calendars: high school musical 3 in theaters oct. 24

This just in ... High School Musical fans can breathe a sigh of relief. After months of whispers, gossiping, and rumors, it was officially announced just moments ago that the entire cast of HSM will be back to star in High School Musical 3: Senior Year, in movie theaters October 24, 2008.

Yup, Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Lucas Grabeel, and Monique Coleman will all be back for the third (and final!) installment of the pop phenomenon that gave the phrase "Getcha Head in the Game" a whole new meaning. And you read correctly: This time the movie will literally be bigger since it will be shown in movie theaters, not TV!

In HSM3, Troy and Gabriella will face the fact that they may have to leave each other as they head off to different colleges ... sound like Superbad?! Not quite! Instead of partying it up, they put on — what else?! — a spring musical to look back on their high school years.
