just a number?

Not too long ago, I was seeing a guy who was a few years older than me — nothing like TomKat’s 16 years, but enough to raise a few eyebrows among my friends. The age gap never seemed to be a big deal, and sometimes I think maybe it’s because the widening age gaps of celebrity couples has made it more socially acceptable, or, at least, less shocking.

First it was Demi and Ashton, and then Tom and Katie happened, and now it seems like these odd celebrity couples are becoming less of an “Oh my gosh!” and more of just an “Oh.” Within the last few weeks, rumors have surfaced about budding romances between Ashley Olsen and Lance Armstrong, Mandy Moore and Matthew Perry, and Rihanna and Josh Hartnett . I mean, some of these couples are more than 10 years apart! And to think, I used to think Hilary and Joel were a strange match. Now, nothing seems to surprise me.

I’m curious, CG!s ... what do you think about age differences in relationships? Has Hollywood changed our perspective? Is age really just a number, and can it last?
