no place like home

After being in New York for a couple of months (I’m only here for the semester), I headed home to Texas this past weekend for a much-needed break. And I have to tell you, it felt great! I love New York, but Texas is where my heart is.

Here’s what I love about my home in Texas: There’s open land, smells that aren’t New York sewers, peace and quiet, and I can jump in my car, crank up the radio, and sing along as loud as I want. I can watch movies, play the piano, or sit around by myself without feeling like I constantly have to be moving like in New York.

What really hit me, though, was how great the people at home are. I mean, I’ve got some great friends in NY, but you can’t beat the way it feels to hang out with people who really know you. I got to hang out with my roommates who accept me no matter what and make every day fun. I got to see my guy friends who always know just how to make me laugh and give the best hugs. I got to be with my family who knows just how to get under my skin but also how to make it all better.
