push play and elbow in concert!

This Saturday night, I had the chance to see this new band, Push Play, live at the Nokia Theater in Times Square. Aside from the concert being great, this is super cool because Push Play is the first unsigned band to play in the huge venue — and they're local! The band is from Long Island!

The guys started off the concert in all white suits pounding on a giant drum and their energy just got better from there. They played a cover of Rihanna's "Umbrella," which was awesome and even had a dance team perform. But the craziest thing I saw was when the lead singer told everybody to make the "Push Play sign." I had no idea what that meant (do you?), but apparently it means holding up the first two fingers of your right hand and making a horizontal triangle with the first two fingers of your left hand — like the play button on your iPod! The entire audience was doing it the whole time, how cool is that?!

But my night didn't end there! I concert hopped to see a favorite band of mine called Elbow. I've been a fan for at least the past 5 years and finally having a chance to see these UK indie rockers live was amazing! If you're a fan of Coldplay, Modest Mouse and The Killers, then I'd highly recommend you check out their new album The Seldom Seen Kid — they’re like a blend of all three bands!
