As a senior in college, I'm writing this for all the college-bound CG!s out there. First thing I want to say is, BREATHE! It's not as serious as it seems. Yes, it's the beginning of the rest of your life and all that mumbo jumbo, but there are a ton of kids standing in those same stilettos (or flip flops--hey, you're in college)! Here are a couple of tips that I've learned over the past three years...

Really deck out your room. It's going to be your home so why not give the place a more permanent feel? Invest in some quality bedding, like a thick mattress pad or jersey sheets (you'll be spending a good amount of time in bed!). A few personal touches, like a lamp, a bright rug and a good comforter, will transform those four walls into your own oasis. (Our September issue has oodles of ideas from Wal-Mart!)
Bring shower shoes so you don't get funky feet. Don't forget all those everyday accessories! Be sure to pack a shower caddy, closet organizers, blow dryers, and your favorite styling products. I always like to compare the lists that those "everything stores" have just so I don't forget the little things (is it just me, or is there like a bagillion back to school sales out there??).
Mind that freshman 15! Saying no to midnight milkshakes and curly fries at the peak of a study session is hard to do, but there are tons of healthy alternatives! Nosh with a conscience by grabbing celery and peanut butter, almonds, or pretzels. And since everyone can use a Hershey's Kiss now and then, take the time to check out your fitness center (even if it's just for the hotties, uh, I mean dumbells?).
Finally, make the most of your four years. Use this time to learn Japanese, discover Indian food, rally for a cause, or just hang out with some awesome people. This is going to be a fun and exciting time so make mistakes, get messy, and just make sure you enjoy it while you can!
