short shorts

Whoa! Yesterday on the subway I saw three young girls (no older than 13!!) wearing the shortest shorts I have ever seen. I'm not kidding when I say their cheeks were hanging out. This bothers me on many levels. First, strangers (like me) tend to immediately judge the girls, labeling them as "skanky." Second, guys (old, young, cute, gross, etc.) get a message that the girls are more mature than they probably really are, maybe even thinking they are ready for more than just making out! And third, it just looks bad.

Everyone likes a little attention from guys now and then, but to me, this is the wrong kind of attention. I'm not saying we, as girls, have to abide by the old school rule that shorts must be down to your fingertips. But I am saying, if, when you're just standing up normally, your butt cheeks peek out—the shorts are too short!

How short do you think is too short? Do you agree with me that this kind of dressing is tacky and dangerous?
