Tina Parol Talks About Her New Music – and Manicures!

When Tina Parol stopped by our office yesterday to play some of the new music that will be on her debut album, Shrinking Violet, in September, the first thing I thought was, "I wonder what color nail polish she'll be wearing?"

When I was shooting the Ultimate Prom reality series this spring – we hosted a prom dress design competition that resulted in a huge concert at a real high school prom – Tina was one of our stars, guiding the contestants along the way and ultimately performing for them. I'd see her with hot pink nails, and bright neon nails. Sometimes, four of her fingers would be pink and the fifth one would be green!

Yesterday, she was sporting red polish from a "gel" manicure she got at the Dashing Diva salon in New York City. Gel nails are healthier than acrylic ones: two coats of gel are applied, nails are dried under a UV lamp, and the manicure is more chip-resistant. The gel contains calcium salt, which allows your nails to grow underneath and stay healthy. Tina gets hers done every two weeks.
