why can't I take fashion risks?

I’m stuck in a fashion rut... make that a fashion DITCH.

It’s not so much that I feel unfashionable, but I feel like I’m always wearing some combination of the same six pieces: skinny jeans, solid t-shirts, light sweaters, cardigans, jersey dresses, and ballet flats. Most of my clothes are either blue, gray, black, or brown, and almost everything is in a solid color. Yeah, yeah, they’re all "classic" pieces, but I still feel really boring!

I think one of my problems is that I try to buy things I think will be okay to wear season after season. When I do pick up something different and uber-trendy when I’m out shopping (like the pink flowered sheath dress or bright colored heels I saw this weekend), I usually end up putting it back, thinking that I’ll never be brave enough to wear it, and that I should spend my money on something practical instead... like MORE boring white t-shirts and little black dresses.

I need help! All the colorful patterned spring styles are so adorable, but I don’t know if I can break out of my rut enough to wear them. Any advice on mixing more interesting pieces into my wardrobe…without going overboard?
