life on the road

I'm halfway through the HSM tour, and I'm already feeling sad knowing that it will come to an end soon. I'm sure you're all wondering what it must be like to travel from city to city, every single day, performing your favorite show EVER! Well, here's some inside scoop on the HSM tour.

A typical day on the road looks like this...

At 1:30pm, we put our luggage in the hallway of our hotel so that they can be collected and put back on our bus. At 3:30pm, we go to the venue. Sound check is at 4pm. Sometimes we have an on-site massage therapist or chiropractor...those are my favorite days. It may sound like we're spoiled, but after doing several shows in a row—a 20-minute massage is exactly what you need. Dinner is at 5. Then around 6, Vanessa, Ashley and I go to hair and make-up. At 7:30pm, the cast, dancers and band get into a circle and pump each other up. We take turns saying something. Usually Chucky (our choreographer) does most of the talking. The show starts at 7:50pm. After the show, we have a meet and greet. That's where we get to meet the fans and sign autographs.
This can last anywhere from 20 min. to an hour and a half. After that, we get on our buses and it's off to the next city.

My least favorite part of touring is that we often arrive into a city at
4 or 5am. We have to be woken up from our sleep (on the bus)...practically sleep walk into a hotel...wait for our bags to come to our room, and by that time, you're wide awake. It takes forever to get back to sleep.

One of my favorite things about touring is my bus. I share it with Ashley, and it is everything you would dream of. We have a front and back living area fully equipped with flat screens. There are 8 bunks, each has its own little TV and DVD player. Sometimes I just curl up and watch episodes of "Sex and the City" with my best friend and assistant Autumn (who is also on tour with me).

INSIDE SCOOP
1.The only rule on the tour bus is that no one can take a poop
2.Lucas has 10 hat changes in the show
3.We all have pre-show secret hand shakes that we do before EVERY
show
4.There are quick change rooms underneath the stage
5.We get to make a list of groceries we want for our tour bus
every day, and someone will go out and get it for us. Ashley and I have a secret indulgence of cereal. I love Apple Jacks and she loves Peanut Butter Captain Crunch. We also have Fruit Loops, Lucky Charms, regular Captain Crunch, Cocoa Puffs, Frosted Flakes and Pops. lol
6.We nicknamed the hair and make-up girls the Glam Squad

Well, I hope this gives you a more in-depth idea of what the HSM tour is like. I love you all and I will check in for one last blog next week.

Be healthy,
Monique
