American Idol opened up all the doors to where I am now. Since then, I’ve been able to put together a team to make my album. I made a list of five producers I wanted to work with, and the first one was Desmond Child. I got a 30-minute meeting with him — but it went on for three-and-a-half hours. He said, "Ace, I’d like to do the whole album." So we made him the executive producer, and I didn’t even have to go to number two on the list.

Addiction is something that no matter what you do, it’s going to always be tapping at your door — that’s what it is whenever someone is addicted to anything. It’s something they feel they need just to get that fix. In the song, mine is this girl, and it’s pretty deep. The song is definitely going to catch people off guard. I’m a guy in his 20s — I’m not a bubble-gum guy. I’m the youngest of five boys. I’ve seen everything. I’ve done everything. I’m a grown man to a certain degree, and this song shows that. It’s addiction to the fullest.
