YOU USED TO BE AN ACOUSTIC TRIO AND THEN ADDED ON. HOW DID THAT COME ABOUT?
Natalie [Byrd]: We started like six years ago and Brittany [Painter] moved here from North Carolina in her senior year of high school. So, you can imagine how young we were! Jeremy [Byrd] had played in a different band, and he always wanted to play with us. We were just jerks, like, "Oh, we never even thought about it." And then we were like, "I guess you can play." And Isaaca [Byrd] knew all the songs too.
Jeremy: Actually, I think I really coaxed them into letting me at least try. I used to make them practice with me and they would hate it.
Natalie: We wouldn't hate it!
Jeremy: No, I think you hated it!
Stacey [Byrd]: We would just be like, "This is a waste of time," because this isn't how it was.
Natalie: Exactly, but it's good that we did it, because now they kind of grew together and we saw how important the rhythm section is.
SPEAKING OF OLDER MUSIC, WHO WOULD YOU SAY SOME OF YOUR BIGGEST INFLUENCES ARE?
Stacey: The Beatles are amazing. We love Fleetwood Mac, Joni Mitchell, Simon & Garfunkel, and Bob Dylan. All the great people.
Natalie: Just a lot of old bands....
Brittany: We like a lot of new music too, though.
Jeremy: We are really, really into Ryan Adams.
