Although Emmy Rossum considers herself a normal girl who likes to hang out, go to concerts and cook, not many people her age are doing 90% of their own stunts in an action packed summer blockbuster. Emmy stars in "Poseidon" and in this exclusive Q & A she dishes to CG! about her life on and off of the set.

Were you prepared for this difficult--and wet--experience?

I knew it was going to be difficult but I didn't know how difficult it was going to be. It's been the hardest thing I've done in my life physically. I had to learn how to scuba dive, free dive--some of the scariest situations I had ever been in. To prepare to breathe underwater they would sink this Plexiglas cube over my head. It was quite claustrophobic. We did 90% of our stunts. But fear is 80% mental and once you can overcome that, you'll be fine. Plus I had to show the guys that girls aren't wusses!

Were you injured?

I was pretty much purple from the neck down with bruises because the floors were so slippery and my shoes were so slippery! Thank got I wasn't in high heels.

Was it disorienting that everything on the set was upside down?

The first few days, yes. Then you get used to having the lights on the floor although they're really hot and sometimes would burn through our shoes.

You were under water a lot, so not so much hair and makeup, right?

Just at the beginning of the movie. But they put dirt and fake sweat on us, this gloppy glycerine stuff.

You have an album in the works. Details?

It's pop music, but not bubble gum. It's kind of David Gray, Sarah McLachlan, Annie Lennox. I'm writing a lot of it with Glenn Ballard. It's an opportunity for me to do something that I totally create. With film, you're just a piece of the puzzle but here I get to write it and sing it and produce it and play some instruments.

When will it be out?

Probably top of next year. We're working on writing it right now.

How about your social life? Are you dating? Do you date actors?

I tend not to date celebrities or other actors. Everything about my life is rather unconventional except my personal life, which is pretty normal. The kinds of friends I have are ones I had before I was an actress. The kind of guys I like to date are ones that can teach me about something about something I don't know so they're generally not in the film business. You know, I'm a pretty normal, cool girl who likes to go to concerts, see movies and I love to cook.

What's your specialty?

Every Saturday or Sunday, I have this big thing at my house where I invite my friends and cook for them. I have a big sweet tooth so I do an excellent chocolate souffle and excellent creme brulee. Everyone always says that they're delicious.
