Irish rock band The Script have been making their presence known across the seas! Currently on tour with David Cook, the band released their new video for their song "Breakeven" earlier this month. We caught up with the band before performing on It's On with Alexa Chung at the MTV studios to talk about their album, touring, and New York City.
CosmoGirl: Are you guys excited to perform on It's On with Alexa Chung?
The Script: "We are really excited! She is like the new version of TRL with a bit of a European vibe to her. It's also a little nerve wracking because we know her from home, but we are really excited to get to play for the American audience on TV."
CG: You've been traveling between Europe and the U.S. a lot now. Do you enjoy coming to New York, or dread it?
TS: "In general we are really comfortable in New York since we've already done all of the touristy things. We feel really settled here now when we do come over. But we do so much work every time we are here, so any time we hear the words "New York" we know we have a lot of work in store for us! We love the atmosphere too, the people are great and we love all of the boroughs and different side streets."
CG: The video for "Breakeven" premiered earlier this month. What is the song about?
TS: "The song is about the fact that a relationship never breaks even, there are so many smaller pieces and someone who didn't want to leave the relationship. We focus on that person, so for every great day she's had in her life that was amazing that very well could possibly be his worst day. We shot the video in Dublin because the song is so close to the bone it was really the only setting for us that we could do it in."
CG: You are currently on tour with David Cook! How's the tour going?
TS: "It's been a perfect opportunity to give back to the American audience. For a while now people have heard our songs on the radio but haven't gotten the chance to come out and see us so it's great that they finally can. We play a 14 minute set and we never want to get off the stage!"
