Zac [Efron] got me a really cool electric scooter for Christmas because I like to ride on bikes and things like that. We were bored one day and decided to attach a jump rope to my scooter so I could pull him on his skateboard behind me. The scooter was going as fast as it could around the streets of my neighborhood. And every time I’d stop, we’d both crash! It was so fun, though.

Some fan mail comes with weird stuff, like guys sending pictures of themselves professing their love for you-nothing bad. Not to be conceited or anything, but I kind of grew up with that. Once I turned 13, I was the guy magnet. A good amount of the guys wanted to date me. Even older guys looking at me. It took some getting used to. Every now and then, you're just like, "What on earth?" I remember walking down the street to the mall and there was a fireman driving a truck. He sees me and he sticks his head out of the window, turns his head around, and is staring at me while he is driving the ginormous fire truck. I'm like, don't you want to keep your eyes on the road? It was weird because my dad was a fireman, so I personally don't think firefighters are hot.

Good boys are nice — don’t go for the bad ones! But I think with dating, you [have to] live and learn. That’s the only way you can do it. You can try to avoid the wrong situation or the wrong person, but no matter what, you have to go through the drama [yourself]. Fortunately, Stella’s not that boy-crazy yet, but she’s getting asked out a lot. A 14-year-old asked her out the other day and she was like, "I’m 11!"
