DIY: Beaded Hoodie

bead, beaded, hoodie, hooded, sweatshirt, diy, do it yourself hoodie with strips of round blue beads BLUE-TIFUL HOODIE\r\n\r\nSupplies: an old, plain sweatshirt, assortment of colored wooden beads ($1-$4/bag, at craft stores), needle, thread, scissors.\r\n\r\nSTEP 1: Cut off bottom 4 inches of both sleeves to create three-quarter sleeves.\r\n\r\nSTEP 2: Double-thread needle and knot. To left of zipper at top, pull needle and thread from inside to front of sweatshirt. Thread a bead onto needle and poke needle back inside the sweatshirt, pulling thread through to secure bead. Repeat until you get near the end of thread. Knot inside sweatshirt.\r\n\r\nSTEP 3: Repeat with new thread as needed to create a 2-inch-wide strip of beads down length of the left side of zipper. STEP 4: Repeat steps 2 and 3 all the way down the right side of the zipper.

DIY: Beaded Necklace

Supplies: 2 yards metallic-silver elastic cord ($2/yard, at craft stores), six medium black beads and six large silver beads ($1-$5/bag, at craft stores), scissors.

\r\n\r\n

STEP 1: String one silver bead onto center of cord. Knot cord on each side of bead to secure. Add two black beads—one on each side of the silver bead—and knot cord to secure black beads in place.

\r\n\r\n

STEP 2: Knot cord 2 1/2 inches up from one black bead. Add a silver bead and knot cord. Knot cord another 2 1/2 inches up. Add a black, a silver, and a black bead, knotting between each one, to repeat pattern from first step.

\r\n\r\n

STEP 3: Repeat step 2 on opposite side of necklace.

\r\n\r\n

STEP 4: Knot last bead onto end of one side of cord. Tie loop on other end of cord (making sure it will fit over last bead) to create a clasp. Slip loop over bead to close.

DIY: Beaded Bag

Poke needle from underside of one front flap. Pull through to front. Thread a bead onto needle. Push needle back through backside of flap; pull through. Push needle to front again; add another bead. Continue weaving front and back, adding beads, until you reach end of thread. Knot end. Repeat with new thread until flap is covered.\r\n\r\nSTEP 2: Repeat step 1 along the edge of the other front pocket flap.\r\n\r\nSTEP 3: Sew a few beads along buckle. *Prices for all supplies are approximate.
