Making a simple tote bag is one of the easiest do-it-yourself projects. Head to your local fabric store to find a fun, funky material to use. Or dig through your drawers to find an old T-shirt that you want to reincarnate! Cut two equal pieces (the size is up to you) and sew the edges together. Attach a ribbon to each side to serve as the handle.
Old is new again

Do you have a pair of pants that fit great in the waist but are just too short? Crop them to mid-calf to make capris or mid-thigh to make shorts. Make the cuts about an inch lower than you actually want the length to be so that you have room to hem them, giving them a professional finish.

Get some polymer clay from your local craft store and create your own beads! This type of clay can be baked in the oven for about 30 minutes (check the instructions on the container) to make them just like store-bought beads. Add a layer of gloss (available at craft stores) if desired, then let dry. Make the beads an assortment of sizes, shapes, and colors, and string them together to make a one-of-a-kind bracelet or necklace.
