BOOZY BLUES
"I was invited to my senior prom by one of my really close guy friends. I told him I was flattered, but since I knew that his after-party plans involved a lot of alcohol, I turned him down. He assured me that there wouldn't be that much drinking, and even vowed to stay sober so I’d have somebody to hang out with. I agreed to go. But I should've trusted my instinct — there was a ton of drinking, and my date, of course, got completely wasted. When I confronted him about it, he cursed me out and proceeded to vomit all over my gorgeous dress!"
SLEEPING SOLO
"About a week before prom, I found out that my date was boasting about how he was apparently going to sleep with me that night. We’d only been dating about two weeks, but he was a superpopular senior and I was only a junior. I felt really pressured, but I told a girlfriend I would not be 'doing the deed.' Word got around, apparently, and when prom night arrived, he left me stranded at the dance without even telling me he was leaving. He just walked away at one point and never came back. I remember waiting and waiting for him until another girl came up and told me she saw him drive off with some other kids about 20 minutes earlier. I was heartbroken that he had ditched me just because I said no to sex."
BREAK DANCE
"My boyfriend and I had been pretty rocky before prom, so I was looking forward to having an amazing night with him and forgetting our problems. But instead he showed up a half-hour late and didn't say two words to me! He forced a smile during pictures, and everything just seemed really awkward. When we finally arrived at the prom, he sat me down during dinner and said that things just weren't working out. He was breaking up with me?! During prom?! This was supposed to be one of the best moments of senior year, and it turned out to be a nightmare. But I realized that if my boyfriend was low enough to do this, he obviously didn't deserve me. So I made the best of it and ditched him during the after-party. Even though my boyfriend was a royal jerk, that didn't stop me from having fun!"
DOUBLE DUTY
"When my date and I showed up at our friend's house for pictures, this other girl kept wanting to take pictures with him. I was a little annoyed, but I didn't worry too much about it — they're just pictures, after all. But when we got to the prom, he kept splitting his time between the two of us. He danced with me for the first song and switched over to her for the second. We quickly realized what was going on — he had told both of us that he'd be our date! We decided that neither of us were interested in being his date anymore."
