POSITION: Fashion Assistant
WHAT YOU DO AT CG!: Keep track of all those amazing clothes and accessories you see in CG! each month, go on photo shoots with our creative director, cover the intimates (think supercute pj's and undies) and activewear (the best gym clothes ever!) markets, write pages for the CG! Look, and assist my department with whatever they're working on. My job's the best!
WHERE YOU WENT TO SCHOOL AND WHAT YOU STUDIED: I went to Syracuse University and majored in magazine journalism. I also minored in French and marketing. I always knew I wanted to work in the magazine industry, so I only applied to colleges that offered it as a major. I think I irritated my professors sometimes because I would only write articles on fashion. Oh, well! It helped me get a job in the industry.
HOW YOU GOT YOUR JOB AT CG!: I interned a lot while I was in college. I did a summer at YM and Marie Claire, and then after I graduated I interned at Harper's Bazaar. I also networked with everyone who was willing to talk to me. That's what really got me my job at CG!. I was having a meeting with our executive editor a week or so after I moved to NYC, and she told me about the job opening here. Before I knew it, the job was mine!!
FAVORITE CG! MEMORY: My very first photo shoot. I was only here for two weeks before I got to go to L.A. to shoot Ashley Tisdale for our prom cover. I was so excited and nervous at the same time! My first fashion show, BCBG, was a major highlight too. Because I came with my creative director, I got to sit in the second row — not typical at all for an assistant!
FAVORITE FASHIONABLE CELEB AND WHY: She's a model turned celebrity, but Kate Moss is the most fashionable person ever! She's so innovative and always comes up with new ways to style looks. I wish I could go shopping or just spend an afternoon talking fashion with her.
FAVORITE DESIGNER AND WHY: Nicolas Ghesquiere from Balenciaga. I'm obsessed with him! I think he is such a genius, and I LOVE every collection he comes out with. I also have huge crushes on Marc Jacobs and Karl Lagerfeld. It's all about my boys!!
I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT MY: Closetful of purses. They are my addiction!
