The Fashionista Diaries: Susan

I have to say, being on a reality show is quite an experience! We didn’t have the cameras in the office all the time filming us 24/7 like on MTV’s Real World or The Hills (phew!). But the lighting has been set up above Andrew and Rachel’s desk for the entire time we've been shooting, a constant reminder that what you say or do could be used against you!

All kidding aside, “reality” is a lot of work! Things can’t just happen in real time.... We have to plan in advance to make sure certain things — like conversations that you’d normally have in secret — happen when the cameras are rolling. It’s almost like when you play chess: You know how you have to think three steps ahead to see how every move might turn out, and then you work backward to plan your strategy? Being filmed feels kind of like that, and that takes a lot of brain power! Still, it's tons of fun! Having camera guys running around, whispering into their headsets, adjusting equipment, wiring people for mics — it all makes the CG! office buzz even more than usual. As I’m writing this, the episodes we’re in haven’t aired yet, so I’m a little nervous. Will viewers love us, hate us, make fun of us? Who knows?! But in the world of reality TV, that’s all in a day’s work!

I’m dying to know what you think about the show, so e-mail me your opinions at susan@cosmogirl.com, okay?
