Meeting new guys can be pretty difficult sometimes, and often, I find it especially hard to go out of my way and introduce myself to new guys. It seems a lot of my friends have this problem, too. I firmly believe you don’t have to be outrageous to get the attention of a boy, so I have compiled some tips for all of you shy girls out there!

Call for backup :They say ‘two heads are better than one,’ right? Shameless double teaming is totally fine. Secure the help of a confidence-boosting friend and make your move. Pretending to know him from somewhere (even though you know darn well you don’t) might be an interesting ice breaker – and a great way to get his name!

Act it out : Think of talking to that mysterious dreamboy as part of a play. Pretending you’re ‘in character’ might give you the added confidence you need to get that initial convo going. Consider it research!

Rationalize : Drill into your head that the very worst that can happen is he isn’t interested. No big deal. There are plenty of guys that probably already are! If all else fails, you may end up making a good friend...and chances are he has other friends you’ll meet (wink, wink).

Relax : Don’t stress! My philosophy is: when you are totally comfortable in your own skin, it shows, and it draws people to you! Just because you’re a little shy doesn’t mean you can’t snag the boy. Smiles and a positive, friendly attitude are the only tools you need! Besides, shy can come across as coy and mysterious a la Angelina Jolie.
