The perfect kiss is all about comfort and connection. Regardless of how much you dig your guy, locking lips can be awkward at times. These five steps will not only calm your nerves and help you be a more confident kisser; they're sure to impress him too.
1. Chill Out
Relax your body and take a deep breath if you need to. There's no fun in making out when you're uncomfortable. Start off slowly and take it from there. Don't forget to breathe!
2. It's All About Rhythm
Don't suffocate him with your tongue when he's starting off with closed-mouth kisses. Think about it like this: If you were to act superhyper when someone else was acting exceptionally mellow, you wouldn't be able to relate to each other. Make sure to pay attention to his body language and how he's using his tongue to connect with him. If you want to change the pace, make sure to do it gradually.
3. Control Your Tongue
The tongue is the powerhouse of the French kiss so make sure you use it correctly! No one likes to have a tongue shoved down his or her throat, so make sure to introduce it lightly. Get passionate when it's appropriate to be. Move your tongue inside his mouth in a circular pattern. If you're unsure, pay attention to what his tongue is doing.
4. Explore
Add a little variety! You're not limited to his mouth. Explore his face carefully. Don't lick him like a dog or bite him aggressively. (Ouch!) Instead, try softly nibbling on his ear or gently tugging his bottom lip. Pay attention to his body language to see what he enjoys.
5. Take Care of Those Pretty Lips
Use lip balm beforehand. Dry, cracked lips can interfere with the smoothness of the kiss. Try not to use sticky gloss or lipstick, because things can get gooey. Moist lips assure a smooth, soft make-out.
