Its a common scenario: You meet a great guy, exchange witty banter, and finally he asks you for your number. But your excitement turns to confusion when he doesnt call. Your first instinct is to blame yourself was it that garlic bread you had at dinner? As a guy, I can tell you from experience: Teen guys are insecure, emotionally stunted, and not fully evolved. So before you boycott garlic forever, check out these explanations for guys mysterious behavior.
IF HE DOESNT CALL AFTER...
YOU WENT OUT ON A DATE
Sometimes, if it aint meant to be, it aint meant to be. Chemistrys a funny thing: What you were feeling during the date may not be the same as what he was feeling. Lets face it even if you werent crazy about him either, you probably still want him to call you, right? Its only human to want someone to want you, even if you dont want them. But think about it this way: If you already know hes got communication issues and he isnt falling all over himself to ask you out on a second date, then hes probably not right for you anyway. So its actually kind of a good thing that he didnt call!
IF HE DOESNT CALL AFTER...
A HOT MAKE-OUT SESSION
Youre already feeling post-hookup vulnerability, so why is he making it worse by not calling? Some guys freak when they realize getting physical has emotional effects (like, one of you might want more than just a hookup), so they freeze up and dont call. Others get paranoid youll reject them. Then there are the garden-variety jerks who hook up with girls for bragging rights. No jerk repellent exists yet, but I hear scientists are working on it.
IF HE DOESNT CALL AFTER...
ASKING FOR YOUR NUMBER AT A PARTY
In a logical world, a guy who asks for your number should use it to call you. But guys and logic dont go together. Some just like the thrill of the chase and lose interest after getting your number, no matter how cool they thought you were. Others wuss out, fearing they wont be able to recapture that spark you had at the party. And some forget, then feel like its too late. See, there are tons of factors and most have zero to do with you.
BOTTOM LINE: Its frustrating when he doesnt call, but dont overanalyze it (okay, at least not for more than a day). Instead, focus on the facts: He didnt call. Its his loss. Next!
