What the Princeton Review says...
"Two popular events stick out in my mind as being a huge deal at UMM. The first is the annual tug-of-war contest between the two freshman dorms. Every year during Homecoming week, students from each of the two dorms (and upperclassmen who feel a strong connection with their former residences) gather together to participate in a tug-of-war. The winning dorm earns the right to name the pond between the dorms after their Hall until the next tug-of-war."
"A great organization for women on campus is the Women's Resource Center. This group organizes fun events promoting womanhood and offers wonderful services for women, including services for women who were or are victims of abuse. Students at UMM are also proud to take part in Take Back the Night, including festivities and a walk from campus, through town, back to the campus."

"My favorite two places to go off-campus are Don's Café and Common Cup. You can get the best burger in town and a shake to go with it at Don's. Or you can get their amazing toast or grilled cheese. Don's is famous for their toast, and eating Don's toast is almost a rite of passage at UMM. Common Cup is a great coffee shop that often has live music and it's also got a great atmosphere to relax after class or to get some studying done."

"We have wide variety of places to eat in town too everything from the all-American Don's café to Chinese, and Mexican. The local coffee shop and bars bring in music groups to perform on weeknights for everyone not just those of age."
"Dance Ensemble is a school-wide dance recital in which any student who wants to tryout for Dance Ensemble and learn the dances can participate. Students, staff, or faculty can be in it and the show sells out both nights they perform. The dances are always exciting, funny, and beautiful. Many of the dancers' families come to support and watch their students. Recent dances have been anything from a replica of Napoleon Dynamite's dance to tap, hip-hop, and modern dance. It's a great time for any audience!"
"Our school has support programs in place for all minority students, specifically for females we have WOCA which stands for the Women of Color Association, and the Women's Resource Center. These to programs are geared to help educate and support women and men about issues concerning females."
- LeAnn, 21, senior
