What the Princeton Review says...
"Women are almost half of MIT students, and our president is even a woman! We have Margaret Cheney Room, a lounge set aside just for female students, featuring a grand piano, a full kitchen and study areas. For clubs, we have ranging from Society of Women Engineers to the Black Women's Alliance. Living groups: five sororities, one women independent living group, and one all-girl dorm (which looks like a hotel!). MIT Women Leadership Conference is held every year in the fall, and it's an excellent introduction to resources to MIT and what it takes to make a difference."
"Everyone makes jokes about MIT students being all nerdy and socially awkward. People here are nerdy in that they all know that their priority is schoolwork. However, how can the students be socially awkward when we're all going through this together?"
- Nahathai, 19, sophomore
"For women, there is the Society of Women Engineers, and other programs for women. For lesbians and other queer women, there is QWILLTS (Queer women looking for life in tech schools).Sororities are an amazing resource for women as well. The impact and contribution of women to other women and others are amazing."
- Cheryl, 20, junior
"One of the biggest misconceptions about MIT is that everyone is a math-whiz or computer genius. Sure, people scored perfect on their SAT's, but I'm not one of them and I got in! However, MIT is also a very social campus, from dorm and fraternity parties to cultural events and famous speakers."
"One amazing organization is called NSUW: Network of Sloan Undergraduate Women. Sloan is MIT's business school, and NSUW is a place for undergraduate women to network, learn about business, and be empowered to go out and run the world."
- Ellen, 21, senior
