Methodology for "Niche Factor" Lists

The Princeton Review fielded a supplemental survey to the schools in consideration for the 100 Best list. From that data, the following non-ranked lists were gleaned:

5 Schools with Exceptional Career Services for Women– based on percentage of female graduates employed within one year of graduating; percentage of female students completing an internship by graduation; whether the school offers a mentorship program specifically for women; whether the school has a female alumni network; and percentage of on-campus guest speakers who are women.

5 Schools with Exceptional Activities for Women – based on number of female-focused clubs and organizations on campus (excluding sports and sororities); percentage of female student participation in those clubs and and organizations; and percentage of co-ed club presidents who are female.

5 Schools with Exceptional Health Services for Women – based on whether the school offers the following services, and whether they are available for free or at a discounted rate: HIV testing; HIV counseling/support groups; STD testing; STD counseling/support groups; contraception; pregnancy testing; pregnancy counseling/support groups; childcare services; nutritionist/nutritional counseling; women-only or women-focused exercise courses; eating disorder counseling/support groups; after hours transport service; self-defense courses; rape/sexual assault counseling/support groups; mental health counseling/support groups; sexual assault/rape crisis center.

5 Schools with Exceptional Athletics for Women – based on percent participation in intercollegiate or intramural sports by the female student body; and attendance at women’s sporting events relative to men’s.
