What the Princeton Review says...

"Swarthmore has two coffee bars, both close to the main libraries. At 10pm, when they are closing, the coffee is free so everyone wanders out of their hiding places and stand around and talk. It's a great study break and you never know who you'll run into there! The coffee bars are also great places to hang out in throughout the day - professors, students, administrators, everyone passes through at some point."

"Swatties are thought to be focused only on school and books, but that's just not true. Swatties are anything but bookworms - the only thing that we have in common is that we are all passionate about at least one thing and usually many more than that!"

"Screw-Your-Roommate. Every spring, your roommate spends the first few weeks back searching for the perfect blind date. Then, at dinner on the night of the dance, you dress up as half of a costume (think Romeo and Juliet, but usually more creative like an ant and a picnic—that was me!). Even if you don't have a date, go because you might see someone suspended from the wall of the dining hall - a spider waiting for its fly - and many other ridiculous sights. After finding your date, you go back to your room and get ready for the formal."
- Kristen, 22, class of '07

"I think the biggest misconception is that it's too hard and that all we do is study. While we certainly study (a lot!), often the intensity of Swarthmore comes from being so interested in the topic that you want to go above and beyond the requirements and because we have so many extracurricular activities. And, usually, it doesn't feel like too much work because it's work that I want to be doing and excited to do. Swarthmore is totally do-able, although it is often stressful."

"We have a Women's Resource Center, which is a house that is there to serve women on campus. Groups such as Feminist Majority and Swat Survivors, for people who are survivors of sexual assault and violence meet there. As a part of Feminist Majority, I helped organize conversations about women of color in the feminist movement, body image and women's sexuality."
- Tatiana, 21, senior
